There are few things more satisfying than warm, fresh bread. Putting a fertility spell to use could be one of those things though, which makes this one of my favorite spells. You get warm, fresh bread, and some fun with your honey afterwards.
Oranges are a beautiful little fruit, jam packed with magickal energy. Oranges are best used for love, fertility, success, divination, and giving any relationship a good boost. Oranges are the base for this spell. You’ll want a couple good, juicy oranges, and make sure you wash them because you’ll need the zest.
We use honey to activate the yeast because it’s tied to attraction, and it tastes amazing. Seriously.
You can use any flour you like for this, but I suggest wheat. Rye and barley both have ties to love magick, but wheat is tied to abundance, fertility, conception and wishes, so if you’re wishing for a baby then wheat makes a good flour for this spell.
Alright, enough lead up, let’s get to the actual recipe, so you can get to casting spells.
- 3 cups unbleached wheat flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dry active yeast (this is the only brand I use)
- 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbl honey
- Zest of one orange
In a big bowl, combine your flour, salt, and orange zest. In a glass measuring cup combine honey and warm water. Stir until the honey is dissolved, then add your yeast. The water should be warm, not hot. No more than 105*f. Leave your yeast for 5-10 minutes to activate.
Once the yeast is good and frothy, add it to your flour, mixing well. You’re not going to have a good consistency right now, it will be too dry. That’s where you start to add your orange juice. Slowly add the orange juice until the dough is the consistency you want. It should be sticky, but not wet.
Flour your counter and hands, and then knead out your bread on the counter. You want to knead it just until the dough is well mixed, and no longer sticky. It should stick to itself and not your hands. Form it into a large round, and then place it on a baking rack to rise. Bread will rise a different rates depending on the weather, I fin that putting the baking rack on top of your stove top while you let the oven preheat is a good plan. Preheat your oven to 350*f and let your bread rise for about 2 hours, or until approximately double in size.
Once your bread is risen and ready to go into the oven, bake for 30 minutes. Brush with an egg wash, and place it back in the oven for 10 minutes.
For a little extra oomph you can mix up a quick batch of orange honey butter to spread on your fresh bread. Just soften a stick of butter, and whip it together with 2 tablespoons of honey and a tablespoon of orange juice.
My suggestions, serve this in a tasty little fertility spread for a snack or picnic with your loved one. Think a whole cheese board turned fertility spell. Grapes, apple slices, figs…all strongly tied to fertility, and all served with your fertility spell orange bread.
Happy casting, my little witches!
