I have the fondest memories of honeysuckle from my childhood. You see, I grew up in a small town, and my mom used to take me with her when she’d go walking around to run errands. I remember this one street, an old stone wall was covered in honeysuckles. We used to pluck the blooms from the vines, and eat the nectar. She told me that sharing honeysuckle with someone you loved would link your fates together.
Honeysuckle has a long history and a variety of magical uses. It can be brought into your home to promote love in marriage, braiding the vines together can be used for fidelity, the plant can be used in money spells, as well as for aiding in dreams, generosity, and increasing psychic abilities. The plant also has a history of use as a medicinal plant, though it is much less common to find it being used now a-day’s, because ingesting large amounts can make you sick. If you’re interested in learning more about the medicinal uses of honeysuckle, I recommend check out the WedMD entry for it.
Now, there’s plenty of things you can do with honeysuckle and a little bit of witchcraft, but I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite potions. Hint, it’s a tea! The point of this spell is to give yourself the courage you need to pursue romantic interests. It’s a courage spell, specifically aimed at your love life. So, let’s get to it.
You can order honeysuckle tea online, just the dried blossoms, if you don’t have access to your own honeysuckle plants. I recommend this brand. This particular spell requires a couple more ingredients though.
In addition to the honeysuckle, you’ll need black tea, and rose buds. You see, black tea is used for courage spells, and roses of course link back to love. This is a good option for purchasing dried rose buds, and they’re useful for a variety of things, from witchcraft to cooking.
The recipe for this spell is simple enough, we’re going to mix up our own tea blend, and then infuse the brew with magick. For the tea mix itself I like to use the following ratios:
- 1 part black tea
- 2 parts honeysuckle
- 1 part rosebuds
The other thing we need is some sunshine. The sun, and thus sunlight, are associated with courage, strength, companionship, clarity, and harmony. That makes it the perfect binder to tie together the other three ingredients, and charge the spell. For an extra kick you can mark the outside of the pitcher with the symbols for the sun and Venus.
Mix up your tea blend, and fill a pitcher with water. Place your pitcher in a window, or outside in a safe place where it has direct sunlight. Leave the pitcher for 3-5 hours, until the tea has brewed the desired amount (to taste).
You can sweeten it to taste with honey, which has ties to both attraction and solar magick. Before you drink the tea, I recommend taking some time to meditate on what it is that you’re conflicted over and need courage for, it will focus your intent and help to focus the spell.
Happy brewing, and good luck in love, my sweets!
